What is the CRC?
The CRC is the UK's first mandatory carbon trading scheme, applicable to large non energy-intensive organisations in the public and private sectors. It will have a significant impact on carbon emission reductions. The initial phase of the CRC will be compulsory for organisations that consume over 6,000 MWh (6,000,000 kWh) of half-hourly metered electricity during the period from January 2008 to December 2008. At today's prices, that is roughly equivalent to total half hourly electricity bills of approximately £500,000 per year.

Topics:
The Midlands Carbon Reduction Commitment Conference 2010 will discuss the Carbon Reduction Commitment; highlight ways to avoid liabilities and increase opportunities; increase vital awareness in the Midlands region; and practically drive the Carbon agenda. The conference will be attended by CRC Managers, local authorities, consultants, carbon traders, environmental compliance managers, contractors and facilities managers.
Presentations will look into:
  •     The Policy Aspects of the CRC
  •     Getting to Grips With the Organisational Aspects of the CRC
  •     Carbon Reporting: “How to Survive a Carbon Audit"
  •     The League Table & Recycling Payments
  •     Why Landlords Should Learn to Love the CRC
  •     How the CRC is Applied by Landlords to Multiple-Occupancy Premises
  •     How the CRC Affects Your Industry Sector and the Region as a Whole
  •     There will be case studies on how Manufacturers are dealing with the CRC in the Midlands, and on how a CRC Strategy can add real bottom line value to a company or organisation
