Many senior members of the geological and geotechnical/geoenvironmental community have a wealth of knowledge that starts in the days when skills were obtained by hands-on and supervised practical experience. This knowlege is never out of date and can be used in many ways, for example in mentoring, training, assisiting where extra help is welcome, editing and consulting.

First Steps is instrumental in forming the London Basin Forum which will have to handle very large quantities of data and would welcome the scientific skills that senior geologists and geotechnical engineers could bring to the project, which involves a reconstruction of movement in the Caledonian basement below London upto its neotectonic activity as seen in ground level movements of the Holocene.
