Postgraduate Degree Courses
The MSc in Engineering Geology for Ground Models at Imperial College encapsulates the knowledge and skills that constitute “engineering geology” in its widest sense, and their application in design and analyses. The course is centred on the creation, validation and quantitative use of conceptual models for ground engineering and environmental control. These are based on ground investigation and case history and expressed through engineering geology, soil mechanics, rock mechanics and hydrogeology. Teaching is by lectures, laboratory work, field work and a full programme of course work, which includes personal presentations to a professional level. Full details are available on:Amongst the many advantages of studying at Imperial are the interface with world class staff, proximity to the Geological Society, The Royal Geographical Society and the Institution of Civil Engineers, with their libraries and technical meetings, and access to premier research facilities in geotechnics.
The teaching of engineering geology at Imperial celebrates its centenary in 2010; (Ref. de Freitas MH & Rosenbaum MS 2008.Engineering geology at Imperial College London; 1907-2007. Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology, 41, 223-228.
